Which term covers saving data for later use?

Storage

Saving data for later use is storage. Storage keeps files and information on media that retain data even when the device is off, so you can access them again later. It’s what you use when you save a document to a hard drive, SSD, USB drive, or the cloud. This differs from RAM or immediate memory, which holds data temporarily while a program runs. Abstraction is about hiding complexity, not saving data. Structure diagrams show how data is organized, not the act of saving it. Coding is the process of writing instructions for a computer.
